Faculty Member, Pacific & Asian Studies
Assistant Professor
About
I am a member of the Department of Pacific and Asian Studies at the University of Victoria. My current research project examines the globalization of Islamic finance in Southeast Asia. I am an anthropologist by training, but my work is interdisciplinary and engages with religious studies, sociology, politics, history, and Asian studies among other fields. At UVic I participate in both the Critical Theory Research Collective and the Centre for Studies in Religion and Society. I received Ph.D. and M.A. degrees in anthropology from the University of California, Berkeley and a B.A. in anthropology from the University of Chicago.
