About
I started out my graduate studies as a Victorianist, but I plan on moving on to the post-colonial world for my doctoral dissertation.
My Master's thesis concerns Frederic Leighton's illustrations of George Eliot's _Romola_, and their relation to epic and history. I love working with visual arts, and I am so glad to contribute to the expanding field of illustrated Victorian fiction. For this research I received a FQRSC grant.
For my PhD I want to work on something rather different: the dynamics of laughter and violence in black post-colonial fiction. I decided to switch fields when I read _The White Tiger_ and realized I had much more teaching inspiration from it than from, say, _Middlemarch_. I will see where that illumination leads me!
